Born in 1965, Junichi Abe studied fashion at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. He was a launching member of Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons. After working for about 5 years, he left and started a new brand, PPCM, with three other people as the co-founder and the designer. The brand lasted for 10 years with 50 stockists in Japan and 14 in other countries. Disbanding PPCM, he chose to go solo and established ‘kolor’ in May 2004.
Kolor has always taken pride in applying a signature look to comfortable clothes. Seasonal collections are not based around themes, but embrace the three fundamental elements of clothesmaking; the texture of the materials, unique cutting, and sewing skills to achieve the necessary details.
